Young Climate Activists

As we move out of Youth Month, it was heartening to see reports of recent youth protests in South Africa, focusing on climate catastrophe, climate collapse and climate justice.
Young people in Gauteng who would like to get involved in environmental issues can investigate 350 Africa.org, African Climate Alliance, Extinction Rebellion, Earth Life, Africa Matters Initiative, WESSA and Alternative Policy Centre (COPAC). They are all accessible on social media.
Or they can start their own local organisation.
As parents we should be giving them all the support that they need.
This is not a crisis that only affects one racial group or one age group or one economic group – it affects each and every one of us.
Raising awareness of environmental issues is a vital part of the focus of the Gauteng Smallholder magazine.
As they say, “There is no Planet B”.
